What a lovely surprise after being in the desert for sooooo long! We were right on the Snake River with beautiful sunsets, grass, and fresh breezes, even though it was hot.  and there were beans... miles and miles of beans.

Dear Idaho

We know you think you are all about potatoes but we know the truth

Twin Falls Idaho

We stayed at Rock park in  Twin Falls Idaho which was some kind of county park located in the city. Twin Falls is known as a gateway to Snake River Canyon, which lies just to the north of the state. Shoshone Falls and Perrine Coulee Falls are located within the outskirts of the city and are beautiful to see. For me, and dating myself to a young fourteen year old who has had the love of motorcycles my whole life, it was seeing the place where my child hood hero attempted to jump the snake river canyon on his steamed powered rocket/motorcycle. In the early seventies, Evil Knevil had a large dirt mount and ramp constructed on land that e leased in 1974 to jump the canyon but quickly failed as his parachute deployed prematurely shortly after take off. None the less, it felt like we were standing on holy ground and was really fund to stand there and think about having watched that on TV. The city has beautiful greenways along the canyon that go right past the historical site. How cool!

Provo Utah

We stayed two (2) nights in Provo Utah near the state park on Utah lake. It was a park located near the Provo municipal airport on the edge of a beautiful mountain valley town with spectacular views. It had two (2) things we were so much in need of. Grass and SHADE! We rode our bikes on the greenway in a cove of unbelievable Cottonwood trees. The "Cotton" was so heavy that it lined the sides of the greenway like a blanket just inviting your sinuses to inhale and aggravate. Like we needed extra sinus dryness after spending almost two (2) weeks camping in the desert during a heat wave. It was great fun and a good break from some of the heat.

Bluff Utah

We needed a stop over for one night and stayed in the middle of the Utah desert. The desert seems to go on forever and it's hot, dry, dusty, endless and interesting all at the same time. It was really cool seeing wild horses in the middle of nowhere and we wondered how they survive. They just know how.

Cedar City - Utah

Image
Trying desperately to cool off we ran the AC on Hi from Hoover Dam to Cedar City Utah only to find that our much needed campsite was a parking lot in the middle of the desert with NO shade. We did a quick "No thank you ma'am" and found an even better one. God has an amazing way of providing perfect direction in perfect timing. We found shade, peace and quite in a beautiful canyon with great hiking. In addition, the town is very quaint and charming.

Hoover Dam - Arizona/Nevada

We made it to Hoover Dam and what an Engineering marvel it is. How they constructed the Dam in the excessive heat is a wonder into it self. It was 114 degrees when we were there and as luck would have it, we were there at noon by travel time. We had to pour water on poor Ellie and carry her the pavement was so incredibly hot!!

Kingman Arizona - Hualapai mountain park

Image
Soooooo some of our stays have been booked via pre-planned trip arrangements by my beautiful and amazing wife. Some have been by fluke, refusing to settle and luck. This one was planned and turned out to be a winner. 110 degrees on Kingman and about 85 with a constant and steady cool breeze on the mountain.

Grand Canyon Arizona

Image
We were able to get a spot in Grand Canyon National park by luck, grace and maybe good deed done by another. As a result, we worked on our boondocking skills to camp off grid. We're learning as we go. Great fun and we enjoyed the beauty this place has to offer. Gods creation in the most awe inspiring form.
